This newsreel, hosted and narrated by Dennis James, contains three segments. The first, documents the role that some Hollywood actors and celebrities played in the war effort. Footage shows Tyrone Power and Clark Gable after they enlisted in the Army, and subsequent footage shows Marlene Dietrich, Deanna Durbin, and Linda Darnell as they danced and interacted with soldiers. The efforts of the United Service Organizations (USO) is mentioned, with footage featuring Martha Raye, Al Jolson, and comic Joe E. Brown performing his famous baseball routine. The next segment presents two rescue stories; one successful, one not. The unsuccessful rescue attempt concerned pioneer caver Floyd Collins who, in 1925, was buried alive by a collapsing cave. Host Dennis James interviews Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist William Burke Miller on his attempt to rescue the trapped man. This is followed by a story on the successful 1957 rescue of 7-year-old Benny Hooper from a dry well into which he fell. Included with the newsreel features are two recruitment shorts for the Marine Corps.
